David Steinberg

David Steinberg has been constructing puzzles since he was twelve and had his first crossword puzzle published in the New York Times when he was fourteen. In addition to the Times, his publishers include the Los Angeles Times, Newsday, Fireball Crosswords, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Wall Street Journal, Daily Celebrity Crossword, The Orange County Register, The Crosswords Club, the American Values Club Crossword, The Jerusalem Post, and Simon & Schuster. He is the crossword editor of the Orange County Register associated newspapers and directs the Pre-Shortzian Puzzle Project (http://www.preshortzianpuzzleproject.com/), a collaborative effort to build a fully analyzable database of the New York Times crosswords published before Will Shortz became editor. The sole proprietor of a custom crossword business (http://www.customcrossword.com/) and a member of the National Puzzlers’ League, David attends Stanford University, where he plans to major in computer science.
